UAE to tow an iceberg for water needs from Antarctica by 2020

Date:

A local company has started an official website on the United Arab Emirates Iceberg Project to talk about the expected stages and the benefits that it would bring in the environment and economy.

The plan of towing icebergs from Antarctica is proposed by the National Advisor Bureau Limited to the UAE coasts by the first quarter of 2020.

The testing phase of the project will start in the second half of 2019 around the coast of Perth in Australia or the coast of Cape Town in South Africa. Presently, the firm is developing a bizarre technology to decrease the costs of the project, ensure melting of ice during transportation and to enable smooth water transfer processes at minimal costs to people.

A local news agency of the UAE reported that the project will place UAE on the glacial tourism map as the first desert country to have glacial tourism and save the tourists who exclusively travel to North and South poles the trouble of travelling especially.
