Why Fanney Khan’s ‘Achche Din Kab Aayenge’ was changed post controversy

Date:

The makers of the upcoming film, Fanney Khan launched a song “Mere Achche Din Kab Aayenge” on July 20. Shortly, it turned out to become a medium to target the central government.

This new politicised anthem was widely used by Twitter users in the context of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Acche Din”, that he used in the 2014 general elections.

To put an end to the controversy, director Atul Manjrekar said, “We have cut a new video and released it because our song was unnecessarily taking a political color. It didn’t strike us that this is also the slogan of the government. We didn’t expect such a reaction. Fanney Khan is a simple film about a cab driver and his dreams. I hope people see the song in the right context and not misconstrue it.”

The new version of the song is titled “Achche Din Aa Gaye.”

Featuring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rajkumar Rao in the lead, Fanney Khan is an official remake of Dominique Deruddere’s Belgian comedy Everybody’s Famous! It is scheduled for an August 3 release.
