Tata to launch much awaited SUV Harrier in January 2019

After revealing the H5X concept at the auto expo 2018, auto major Tata is set to roll out Harrier, one of the most anticipated SUVs for India, by January 2019.

Tata Harrier will be one of the two SUVs from Tata Motors to be based on a new OMEGA platform, on which the Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport are also positioned.

Under the hood, reports suggest that Tata Harrier will be powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine which will offer 140 PS.

Tata Harrier is designed on the company’s IMPACT 2.0 philosophy. It gets a distinctive exterior design with sleek headlamps, prominent fog lamps, new front grille and a swooping roofline. The concept featured thickened D Pillar, large size 22” wheels and a silver skid plate.

Dimensions of the concept stood at 4,575mm in length, 1,950mm in width and 1,686mm in height. It gets a 2,740mm long wheelbase and ground clearance of 200mm. These are expected to be more or less on the production-ready variant.

The interior highlight of Tata Harrier will be segmented leading Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays with the user interface. It sports a twin dashboard and central console design with a large touchscreen infotainment system. With comfortable seating for up to 5 adults, the front seats sport an overhead storage space and come with memory function.

Central armrests are on offer for both front and rear passengers while other passenger comforts include smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control and rear air conditioning vents. On the safety front, the new Tata Harrier will get some advanced safety features such as airbags, ABD, EBD, traction control, hill hold control and electronic stability program with rollover mitigation.

Offered in both 2WD and 4WD options, prices are expected to fall between Rs 12-16 lakhs.
