Ahead of I-Day, terror plots targeting national capital uncovered

A major terror plot was busted after some security personnel arrested a terrorist on Sunday. As per the report, the man was on his way to Delhi to carry out a terror attack in the national capital.

Confirming the same, Dr. SD Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone said,”A Kashmiri youth was arrested in possession of 8 grenades from Jammu’s Gandhi Nagar area, last night. He was carrying the cache of grenades to Delhi to hand them over to someone & they could have been used to disrupt 15th August celebrations in Delhi.”

The terrorist is identified as Arfan Wani, a resident of Awantipora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. He was arrested on his way carrying eight live grenades and 60,000 cash. He will now be interrogated by Delhi Police Special Cell.

Recently, a Saudi-based Lashkar-E-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was arrested from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, NIA said on Monday. The terrorist is identified as Habibur Rahaman alias Habib, who is originally a resident of Kendrapara in Odisha and currently based out of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

More details are awaited in this case.
