BJP leaders fall into UP river while immersing late PM Vajpayee’s ashes

Date:

Basti: While the nation is mourning the death of former Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP leaders including an MP, state minister and four MLAs, fell into the Kuano river in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti during a ceremony to immerse the ashes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Reportedly, the urn containing the ashes was bought to the Amhat Ghat and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders paid homage to it.

Former BJP state chief Ramapati Ram Tripathi took the ashes on the boat and other ministers like Suresh Pasi, MP Harish Dwivedi, local MLAs and superintendent of police Dilip Kumar followed Tripathi. Due to overcrowding, the boat lost its balance and it swayed, resulting all of them into the water.

Following this, the ashes were immersed into the river from the ghat itself.
