Kerala MLA attacks nun who accused bishop of rape; calls her a prostitute

Date:

In a shocking statement, an independent MLA of Kelara, PC George called the nun who accused Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal of raping her 13 times a ‘prostitute’.

Talking to press in Kottayam, the Independent MLA questioned the nuns allegations he said, ‘ No one has doubt that the nun is a prostitute. 12 times she enjoyed it and the 13th time it is rape? Why didn’t she complain the first time?’

The nun had lodged a rape and sexual assault complaint against a Jalandhar based bishop Franco Mulakkal. The bishop reportedly used to often visit Kerala for official work, during which he allegedly raped her on several occasions.

The comment came a day after several nuns took to the streets protesting the delay in action against bishop Mulakkal. DGP Kerala, Lokanath Behera said that he has directed IG police to complete enquiry against Jalandhar Bishop.

The nun had alleged in her complaint that the bishop had sexually abused after summoning her on the pretext of discussing an important issue in 2014. He later raped 13 times in the next two years.
