PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat: Things you need to know

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of India in Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio on Sunday.

In this episode of Mann ki Baat, PM Modi said that we will never compromise on India’s sovereignty for the peace between the borders. He also lauded the soldiers saying that now he is clear that out soldiers will also not keep quiet they will also reply back. We believe in peace and are committed to preserve it, but not at the cost of our self-respect and sovereignty,” PM Modi said.

Here are the big takeaways from PM Modi’s Mann ki Baat:

  • He started his speech by applauding the army for the surgical strike, which happened two years ago today, “Every Indian should be proud of our armed forces and soldiers”. The people who wanted proxy war was given a befitting reply by our forces.
  • Further talking about the Parakram Parv (Surgical Strike day), saying that “it reminds the youth of glorious traditions of our armed forces and it is clear now that our forces will not be quiet and will give befitting reply to those who try to disrupt peace in our nation”.
  • Referring to Indian Naval Commander Abhilash Tomy, who was recently rescued from the south Indian Ocean after he had injured himself during the Golden Global Race, PM Modi said, ‘Without eating food or drinking water, Tomy successfully fought his struggle. I spoke to him recently; I had already met him once earlier. His struggle is an inspiration to the youngsters of the country.’

  • PM Modi also said that we have never eyed someone else’s territory maliciously.

  • He also spoke about the equality of men and women who monitoring India’s security and said, “The Indian Air Force has played an important role in bridging the gender gap. Both men and women are equally contributing towards the security of the country,” PM Modi said.
