Gurugram man killed, chopped and dumped victim’s body over loan of Rs 40 lakh

Failing to repay a loan of Rs 40 lakh, a Gurugram man murdered his business partner and killed his wife later, after she refused to commit suicide with him, as per police reports.

The accused, Harnek Singh, had taken a loan from the victim, Jaskaran Singh. Despite a number of reminders from Jaskaran, Harnek did not repay the loan amount, which led to Jaskaran landing at the house of the accused in DLF Phase 2 on 14th October 2018.

Harnek with the help of his wife, Gurmehar Kaur and another person tied him up in a chair and killed him. The three then chopped Jaskaran’s body into 24 or 25 pieces and put it in two polybags and left for Ludhiana

“The accused kept throwing the body pieces at isolated places on the road en route to Ludhiana, Subhash Bokan, the PRO of Gurgaon Police said in a media statement.

Once they returned to Gurgaon, Harnek Singh tried to convince his wife to commit suicide with him, fearing being arrested for the murder.

Singh ended up slitting his wife’s throat on the night of 22nd October, 2018 after she continuously refused to comply with his demand of committing suicide.

The accused left injury marks on himself as well to mislead the police. He told the police that his house was ransacked and the robbers had killed his wife and left him with several injuries. He failed to give a satisfactory reply when he was question on why they killed his wife and only injured him after which he was detained and taken into interrogation, as per police reports.

The accused later confessed the truth behind the murder and was sent to a two-day police custody.
