Noida: Posing as an IAS officer to get work done; man arrested for fraud

UP police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly impersonating an IAS officer and getting work done for his friends and relatives.

The accused has been identified Mani Tyagi. The fraud came into the light after he called Gautam Buddh Nagar (Rural) Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal. The SP, suspecting some foul play put the number on surveillance.

The number was tracked to Ghaziabad. Tyagi was arrested by Badalpur Police following the investigation.

“At times he would say he is a district magistrate posted in Tripura and cite his batch and cadre to build pressure on police officials,” Jaiswal told reporters.

Tyagi, a  BA graduate, who is being convicted of fraud and related offences, reportedly, worked as a supervisor in a private company.

I have only done it a few times to help some people with their work, I have never taken money from anyone,” Tyagi said.

he also told the police that previously he has also called sales tax office and Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow.
