Date:

Providing a clarification on media reports, the Norwegian ambassador to India Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg on Monday said that the Norwegian PM Erna Solberg has not offered to mediate between India and Pakistan.

“PM @erna_solberg has not offered to mediate between India and Pakistan as has been erroneously reported. Norway has neither been asked nor offered to mediate,” he said in a tweet.

Earlier, several media houses have claimed that Erna Solberg has offered to mediate so that Kashmir issue can be resolved.

But in reality, Solberg had earlier said that she does not believe in Military solution but believes in a peaceful solution.

“If there is a movement in India & Pakistan for greater talks together, we’re sure there’ll be countries that would say that we can help in mediating if there is a possibility. It has to be partner-driven, it has to be those who are part in the conflict. Both are big enough to make sure they can decrease tension b/w them, without help from outside,” she said.

Norway PM who is in India on a three-day visit, on Monday, inaugurated the new Norway embassy building, the first green embassy in New Delhi. She also visited government school in Uttar Pradesh where she interacted with children, parents and teachers. She is scheduled to meet prime Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
