A quote by the Russian President Vladimir Putin has begun to resurface on social media following the dastardly attack on the CRPF soldiers in Pulwama.

According to the post, Putin said, “To forgive the terrorists is up to God, to send them to him is up to me.”

FACT CHECK

A Russian journalist, Remi Maalouf, in a tweet posted in November 2015 incorrectly attributed the quote to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following her tweet, it was picked up by several media houses across the globe.

Later, she clarified that she picked up the quote from a Facebook post that turned out to be false.


Several versions of this quote have been in circulation for years now but the origin is unknown. But rest assured, it is verified that the words were never said by Vladimir Putin.
