Sensex, Nifty extend gains into the second straight day

Date:

30 share benchmark Sensex ended 142.09 points up at 35,898.35 on Thursday while the Nifty50 settled at 10,789.85, up 54.40 points as shares in all sectors barring information technology rose led by financial, energy and metal stocks.

Earlier, US stocks ended higher on Wednesday after minutes from the Federal Reserve’s last meeting reaffirmed for investors that the U.S. central bank would be ‘patient’ with respect to further interest rate hikes.

The rupee gained 9 paise to 71.02 against the dollar in early trade on Thursday amid a reversal in foreign fund outflows even as oil prices hardened, PTI reported.
