#INDvsAUS : India fail in 3rd ODI despite Kohli’s ton

Date:

Despite Virat Kohli’s impressive 41st ODI century, India failed to overcome Australia in the series’ third ODI at Ranchi.

The opening pair of Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch scored 193 for the first wicket partnership, as the former got out for 104.

The partnership helped the Aussies put up a stiff total of 313/5.

India started badly as Shikhar Dhawan went back into the pavilion after scoring just one run. After Rohit Sharma got out, Kohli kept scoring from one end but wickets kept falling from the other.

While MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayadu and Vijay Shankar did get off to good starts, they could never take their totals to a 50. Once Kohli got out for 123, India lost 4 wickets in a quick succession.

The match saw Indian players sport camouflages as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces. It was also to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs.

The series is now tied at 2-1 after India won the first two games. With two ODIs to go, India will look to head to the ICC Cricket World Cup in England on a positive note.
