Date:

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away on March 17 at the age of 63 at his son’s home in Panaji. The former Defence Minister had been battling a pancreatic ailment for more than a year.

The Chief Minister’s office in Goa had announced that Parrikar’s health was ‘extremely critical’ earlier on March 17. “Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health condition is extremely critical. Doctors are trying their best.”

Union Cabinet will have condolence meet at 11 am on March 18 for the departed leader.

Parrikar’s health had been fluctuating for several days and he had been in and out of the hospital in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since February last year.

He returned to work in December, admitting that he was battling a “life-threatening disease”, but said he would continue to work till his last breath. “Will serve Goa till my last breath” the three-time chief minister had said in January.
