India questions Pakistan on Kartarpur corridor, meeting on hold

In a fresh development in the Kartapur Sahib Corridor project, India has sought answers from Pakistan to hold another meeting on the modalities at an appropriate time.

The controversy is over the appointment by Pakistan cabinet of a 10-member committee on Katarpur project. Pakistan has included controversial Khalistani sympathiser Gopal Singh Chawla and Bishen Singh on the Kartarpur panel.

India has also asked for clarification from the neighbouring country on key proposals that were put forward by New Delhi at the last meeting held in Attari.

According to government sources, there can’t be any lapse in the security and once the security aspect is cleared and a satisfactory response is received from Pakistan, India would open and keen to take the discussion forward and conclude in a meaningful way.

India also made key proposals that more than 5000 pilgrims daily and 15,000 on special days allowed to visit the shrine.
