Just a day ahead of filing his nomination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a massive roadshow in Varanasi on Thursday.
PM Modi, who is again contesting from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, began the roadshow after paying his tributes at Pt Madan Mohan Malviya’s statue outside Banaras Hindu University.

After holding the roadshow, he also offered prayers and performed Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi.

PM Modi was accompanied by BJP president Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey.

PM Modi will also file his nomination in the temple city on Friday. Several ministers and top NDA leaders are expected to mark the occasion.
The 6-km-long roadshow started from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and concluded at the ghat of the Ganges.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Thursday pitted Ajay Rai against PM Modi in Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi tweeted, “After bumper rallies in Darbhanga and Banda, I am heading to beloved Kashi. There are a series of programmes lined up, which would give me another excellent opportunity to interact with my sisters and brothers of Kashi. Har Har Mahadev!”

In 2014, Prime Minister Modi contested and won from Vadodara in Gujarat as well as from Varanasi but retained the latter.
Varanasi will vote in the seventh phase on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
