Fact Checked: Here’s the truth behind this crystallized book

A picture of a crystallised book is being shared on social media with a claim that a Bible has been found in the ocean.

“An ancient Bible has been found at the bottom of the ocean and is still readable! Type Amen and share this miracle of God. If you don’t share this then you are ungrateful to your God, ” the caption read.


The above post has more than 71,000 shares.

FACT CHECK 

When NewsMobile fact-checked the post, we found the claim to be fake.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found the picture on a blog ‘ Stuff You Can’t Have’ run by Catherine Mcever.

The post dated May 18, 2014, was titled – ‘ Crystallization Experiments 1: Books and Paper Ephemera’ 

The caption on the picture read, “Crystallized German-English Dictionary”

In her post, she shared the formula and the process of crystallization.

Along with the picture of the book she also shared photos of a shoe and other items that she crystallised using the same process.

This proves that the above claim is fake.
