New Delhi: Indian envoy Gaurav Ahluwalia on Monday meet Indian retired Navy officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav on Monday in Islamabad after India accepted the consular access to Jadhav.

“We hope that Pakistan will ensure the right atmosphere so that the meeting is free, fair, meaningful and effective in keeping with the letter and spirit of the ICJ’s orders,” government sources were quoted by newswire ANI.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday evening said, “The Charge d’ Affaires, High Commission of India in Islamabad, met Kulbhushan Jadhav today. While we await a comprehensive report, it was clear that he appeared to be under extreme pressure to parrot a false narrative to bolster Pak’s untenable claims.”
“We”ll decide a further course of action after receiving a detailed report from our Charge d’ Affaires and determining the extent of conformity to the ICJ directives. External Affairs Minister has spoken to the mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav and briefed her of today’s developments,” MEA added.
Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal, in a tweet, said that Jadhav, a retired Indian naval officer will be provided consular access on Monday in line with “Vienna Convention on Consular relations, ICJ judgement and the laws of Pakistan”.

The move came in a day after India sought ‘immediate, effective and unhindered’ consular access to Jadhav while saying that it was in touch with Pakistan through diplomatic channels.
“We are in touch with the Pakistani side through diplomatic channels. You are aware that based on the judgement of the International Court of Justice we have asked for immediate, effective and unhindered access. Let us see the kind of response we receive from the Pakistani side,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said in response to a query.
