Indian Envoy leads efforts to clean up London streets defaced by Pak supporters

In a strong message of solidarity, the Indian community in the UK on Saturday joined hands to clean the mess created by violent Pakistani supporters in front of the Indian mission in London.

India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ruchi Ghanashyam, led the cleaning mission when it began at 3.30 PM IST (11 am London time).

“HC Ruchi Ghanashyam led a cleaning mission today at India House, to clear the mess created by the violent protesters on 3 September’19. Indian community members also joined in the cleanliness drive,” official Twitter handle of High Commission of India, London tweeted.

Ghanshyam said: “We want to show that we are not scared or intimidated. India has responded and this cleanup drive, too, is part of India’s official response.”

Members of the Pakistani diaspora had staged a violent protest outside the mission on September 3 against the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

Earlier they had protested on August 15 on the occasion of India’s Independence Day.
