Fact Checked: This video of women being tortured by Police is NOT from J&K

A video has surfaced on the internet in which police personnel can be seen beating several women and it is being claimed that the video is from Kashmir and Muslim women are being tortured.

At the time of filing this report, the above video was shared by over 2,800 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above video, we found the claim attached to it to be FAKE.

On processing the video through InVid, we extracted keyframes of the video. On putting those keyframes through several Reverse Image Search, we came across the same video posted on YouTube which suggested that the video is from Pakistan’s Sindh. The tilte of the video dated May 5, 2019 “Sindh Police attack on innocent Women at Sindh | Pakistan”.

On digging further, we found a tweet by Sindh Police in which it posted a video of a news bulletin on the same clip.

Hence, the above information proves that the video is NOT from Kashmir.
