Gopal Kanda and six other independents to support BJP in Haryana

Gopal Goyal Kanda and six other elected independent MLA’s have extended their support to the BJP to form the government in Haryana.

Gopal Kanda has been in prison for a year and a half and is currently an accused in two abetments to suicide cases. He was released on bail in 2014.

He is accused of abetting the suicide of Geetika Sharma, a young cabin crew member in his MDLR airlines. In a suicide note left by the victims, she alleged that the accused misused her trust and exploited her. He has other business related to casinos in Goa and real estate projects in Gurgaon.

He was a Minister in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government before he resigned in 2012.

He has currently won the Legislative Assembly elections contesting as an independent from the Sirsa in Haryana.

The Indian National Congress (INC) has lashed out at the BJP and questioned its principles.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Uma Bharati too warned the party from accepting the support of those accused of serious criminal cases.

The list of independent MLA’s who have extended their support in addition to Kanda are the following:

  1. Rakesh Daulatabad- Badshahpur
  2. Sombir- Dadri
  3. Balraj Kundu- Meham
  4. Dharam Pal Gonder- Nilokheri
  5. Nayan Pal Rawat- Prithla
  6. Ranjit Singh-Rania.
