COVID-19: Don’t panic. Here’s all that is open during 21-day lockdown

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an address to the nation announced a 21-day national lockdown to tackle the spread of the deadly Coronavirus across the nation.

However, the Prime Minister specifically mentioned that all essential items and services shall operate unabated and there is no need whatsoever to panic.

Here’s a quick guide to what is open during the 21-day national lockdown.

• Shops dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish, animal fodder, ration shops under PDS. Home deliveries to be encouraged.

• Banks, insurance offices, ATMs.

• Print and electronic media.

• Telecommunications, internet services, broadcasting and cable services, IT and IT-enabled services.

• Delivery of all essential goods including food, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment through e-commerce.

• Manufacturing units of essential commodities.

• Transportation for essential goods only.

• Fire, law and order and emergency services.

• Hotels, homestays, lodges and motels, which are accommodating tourists and persons stranded due to lockdown, medical and emergency staff, air and sea crew.

• Establishment used/earmarked for quarantine facilities
