Fact Check: Man spitting at a co-passenger at a subway stn is not related to COVID-19

A video where a man can be seen spitting at another man at a subway station has resurfaced on social media with a claim that the man spitting was an ‘Islamic jihadi’.

“New York, an islamic jeehadi spits on a subway coach passenger just as the door closes. Unfortunately the low IQ jeehadi picked on wrong person, he forced the train door open and beat the jeehadi to pulp, “ the post reads.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and found it to be an old one.

We ran a search using the keywords ‘man spitting subway’ and found several reports dated August 2019.

According to a report by The Sun, the incident took place at 34th Street Penn Station.

The report by Atlanta Black Star suggests that the incident was racist in nature.

The identity of the people involved was not revealed in any of the reports.

However, since the video was recorded well before the first case of COVID-19 was registered, it is clear that the video is not related to the recent pandemic.
