US Presidential Race: Sanders bows out of Democratic party nominations; paves way for Biden

Date:

Paving the way for former US Vice President Joe Biden to challenge President Donald Trump in the US Presidential elections due in November, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has bowed out of the Democratic Party nominations race after a series of setbacks.

In March, Sanders suffered a series of defeats including the crucial State of Michigan, that virtually sealed his fate.

The results for the recently held elections in the state of Wisconsin is expected to come out on April 13.

Political analysts have said that it was unlikely for the veteran Senator to win the elections.

Sanders,78, had support amongst the youth and was a strong proponent of certain left-wing policies including ‘health care for all’ and subsidised education for all. He had intended to increase the taxes on corporate organizations and fund these programs.

He was also a critic of India and ignorantly criticized it in matters pertaining to the former state of Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian government’s handling of the Delhi riots.

He had earlier contested in 2016 against Hilary Clinton too.
