Telangana woman rides 1,400 km on scooty, brings back son stranded in Andhra Pradesh

Date:

A 48-year-old woman rode 1,400 km on her scooty for nearly three days from Bodhan in Nizamabad in Telangana to bring back her son who was stranded at a friend’s house in neighbouring Nellore in Andhra Pradesh amid the nationwide lockdown.

Her 19-year-old son, Mohammed Nizamuddin, a student at Narayana Medical Academy at Hyderabad, had gone with his classmate to Rehmatabad in Nellore on March 12.

Razia Begum set out on the journey on Monday morning (April 6) armed with local police permission. She rode solo to Nellore and returned with her younger son on Wednesday evening (April 8).

“I accompanied him (friend) as he was going to see his father who was unwell and I also wanted to visit a dargah at Rehmatabad. We went by train on March 12. I had booked a return ticket for March 23 but the trains were cancelled and the lockdown started and I got stranded there,” said Nizamuddin.
