No new case in 42 districts in last 28 days: Health Ministry

In 42 districts no new cases have been detected in the last 28 days, Health Ministry said in its daily media briefing on Friday.

Here are the key takeaways from the briefing:

– In the last 24 hours, 3,390 new cases reported, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in India to 56,342. 37,916 patients are under active medical supervision.

– We have to learn to live with the virus. All practices should be implemented as a behavioural change. The challenge is massive, we need everyone’s support: Health Ministry

– Approval has been received by ICMR for clinical trials of convalescent plasma therapy in 21 hospitals.

– 1,273 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours. India’s recovery rate is now at 29.36%. One in every three patients cured in India. Till now, 16,540 patients have been cured.

– In 216 districts, no positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected. In 42 districts no new cases have been detected in the last 28 days: Lav Agrawal, Joint Secy, Health Ministry

– 222 special trains have so far ferried 2.5 lakh people, including migrant workers, students and tourists. Now the efforts are being made to bring in citizens stranded abroad in a phased manner, which has started on May 7: Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

– Guidelines have been issued for using hotels lodges etc for quarantine purposes, provided these facilities have in house doctor and nurse and there are options of monitoring

– A revised list of red, orange and green zones will be circulated to the States soon after the analysis of data: Agrawal

– Two days ago our doubling time was 12 days, it has reduced now. Challenge is to learn to live with the virus. Important to follow guidelines: Agarwal
