Delhi govt lodges FIR against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulations

The Delhi government has filed an FIR against the medical superintendent of Sir Ganga Ram hospital under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly violating directions issued under Epidemic Disease Act, COVID-19 regulations.

As per the complaint lodged by the Delhi’s Deputy Health Secretary Amit Kumar Pamasi, the hospital was allegedly not using RT PCR app while collecting COVID samples, which is mandatory.

“Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is still not using RT-PCR app even till June 3 which is a clear violation of direction issued under Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulation, 2020 issued under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1987,” the FIR said.

The hospital’s lab is among the six which have been issued show-cause notices by the state government for allegedly flouting ICMR guidelines for testing. The 675-bed hospital has been recently converted into a COVID facility and is supposed to set aside 80% beds for coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, Delhi has reported 1,320 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the total count of coronavirus cases in the city has reached 27,654.

Delhi Health Department said on Saturday that 349 patients have recovered/discharged/migrated while no new death has been reported in the last 24 hours.

There are 16,229 active COVID-19 cases in the national capital and 761 people have succumbed to the disease so far.
