FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false.

Firstly, we searched for related news items, and couldn’t find any credible information about the government’s plan to increase the interest rate on Kisan Credit Card Loan.

We also searched on the RBI website, but we could not find any information about the change in interest rate. We found a copy of the RBI notification of August 2019, in which a compulsory interest rate of 7 percent was fixed on KCC loans of up to two lakh rupees for the years 2018-19 and 2019-20.

We also found a tweet by the government’s nodal agency Press Information Bureau rejecting the claim.

Hence from the above information, it is clear that the government has not increased the rate of Kisan Credit Card loan.
