FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

We noticed that the graphic said the dates for “general election” has been announced.

We then checked the website of the Election Commission and found that the schedule is same as West Bengal’s 2019 Lok Sabha Election schedule.

Moreover, we also checked the Election Commission website for any notice regarding West Bengal Assembly Election dates but couldn’t find any information.

The official Twitter account of the Press Information Bureau also put out a post claiming the viral schedule is fake.

Earlier NewsMobile debunked a similar post claiming that the dates for assembly elections in the states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and UT Puducherry have been announced.

https://newsmobile.in/articles/2021/02/13/fact-check-assembly-election-dates-for-these-5-states-have-not-been-announced-yet-viral-post-is-fake/

Hence, from the above post, it is clear that the viral post is fake and the dates were not announced at the time when this article was published.
