An image is being shared online amid reports of post-poll violence in West Bengal. In this photo, a woman can be seen walking on the street, carrying a child on her back.
One of the posts on Facebook was shared with a caption that reads, “जिनको जानकारी नहीं है बंगाल की ग्राउंड रिपोर्ट बता देता हूं वहां से हिंदुओं ने आसाम के लिए पलायन शुरु कर दिया है कश्मीर देखने का मौका नहीं मिला, बंगाल देख लो!”
(Translation: Those who do not know, I tell the ground report…Bengal Hindus have started migrating to Assam from there. You did not get a chance to see Kashmir, see Bengal!)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be misleading.
A simple reverse image search directed us to an article published in April 2021 which said that “The workers are very much afraid of lockdown.”
“Migrant labourers coming to the cities leaving the villages, are going back to their homes for fear of lockdown and when asked in this context, the workers say that the corona is increasing, so in the country ever Lockdown can also be imposed,” reads the article.
Taking a cue from this, we did a relevant keyword search and came across an article published in May 2020 which carried the same viral image. The image description reads, “Migrants trudging on a flyover in Delhi during the lockdown.”
Thus, it is evident from the above information that a photo related to the exodus of migrant workers taken during lockdown last year in 2020 is being linked to the recent reports of post-poll violence in Bengal. Therefore, the viral claim is misleading.
