Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has advocated yoga to maintain oxygen level in the body during this raging pandemic which has triggered massive oxygen crisis. He has been suggesting yoga to help in breathing and maintain oxygen levels in the body through multiple interviews during this COVID-19 crisis.
In this backdrop, his picture has started doing rounds on social media with a claim that he himself had to be put on a ventilator.
“आज ऑक्सीजन पे ज्ञान देने वाला काणा बाबा कल खुद वेंटीलेटर पे था,” the caption read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claim to be false.
On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found a report by India Today, featuring a similar picture. The caption of the picture read, “Baba Ramdev just after breaking his fast in a Dehradun hospital on Sunday, June 12, 2011.”
Ramdev was on a fast for nine days to protest against corruption and black money. He was admitted to the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences on June 10, 2011, after his condition deteriorated at his Ashram in Haridwar.
Further, we found the video showing Baba Ramdev breaking his fast on the hospital bed in a report by NDTV dated June 12, 2011. The headline of the report read, “Baba Ramdev ends his fast after 9 days”.
The report stated that the breakthrough came after some religious and political leaders met him at the Himalayan Hospital in Dehradun and convinced him to end his fast.
Moreover, we did not find any latest news report about him being admitted to the hospital.
The above information proves that the picture is old. Hence, the claim is false.
