A post is going viral on social media claiming that Dr Anthony Fauci, Director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief Medical Advisor to the US President, has advised his family through email to take hydroxychloroquine and antibiotic therapy as a cure to COVID-19.
The post has an image of Dr Fauci with text on it that reads, “FACT: One of Fauci’s most incredible emails is the one in which he advises a family member to use hydroxychlorichin and antibiotic therapy, The same evening in which in a press conference he attacked DJT on the usefulness of hydroxychlorichin to fight the virus. The world has always been full of traitorous slimeballs, but one as vile as Fauci has not been seen since the days of Judas. I believe that hell will never be deep enough, hot enough, painful enough for him and his associates.”

NewsMobile did a fact check and found the claim to be fake.
On searching with the keyword, we found a BBC report published on June 2, 2021. According to the report, over 30,000 personal emails of Dr Fauci between January 2020 to June 2020 were retrieved by Washington Post and Buzzfeed News through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The emails show a glimpse of his conversations with the government, foreign and domestic health officials, the media, celebrities, and general public and into the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in the US and his dealings with the outbreak.
We checked the set of personal emails of Dr Fauci here. While there are some emails where he spoke about hydroxychloroquine, we found no email where he advised hydroxychloroquine as a treatment of COVID-19.
Hence, we can evidently conclude that the viral claim is false and misleading.
