New Delhi: Within hours after Russia announced military operations in Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he will be meeting with the leaders of the G7 and warned of severe sanctions on Russia by the U.S., its allies and partners.
“We will continue to provide support and assistance to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” the President said in a tweet.
He said that Ukraine President Zelenskyy had reached out to him. “I condemned this unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. I briefed him on the steps we are taking to rally international condemnation, including tonight at the UN Security Council,” President Biden said.
He said that Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the U.S. and its allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable, he added.
