COVID Updates: India Logs 3,337 New Infections; 60 Deaths In Last 24 Hrs

New Delhi: India continues to cross the 3000 mark for the second consecutive day by logging 3,337 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 17,801 cases. It records the highest single-day surge since March.

Delhi logged 1,499 new COVID-related cases in the last 24 hours with a positive rate of 4.62%.

According to the Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, the IIT Madras campus reported 171 COVID cases amid the surge in the past few days.

West Bengal reported 34 new COVID-related cases in the last 24 hours.

Telangana logged 40 new COVID-related cases in the past 24 hours with no fatalities reported due to COVID.

Haryana reported 580 new COVID-related cases in the last 24 hours.

Global Updates

According to the John Hopkins University report, the global COVID caseload has topped 512.5 million with the death number surging to over 6.23 million.

According to the Chinese Health Commission report, Shanghai reported 5,487 new COVID cases.

Taiwan faces one of the worst outbreaks of COVID with over 11,000 new COVID cases.

According to reports, South Korea will lift the mandatory guidelines of wearing masks after a dip in COVID cases in the past few weeks.

According to the health ministry of Italy, the government has decided to extend the obligation of wearing masks in public transport and even in indoor events till at least June 15 amid the surge in the number of cases.
