An image of a Nandi statue is widely being shared on social media. The image is shared with a text claiming that the Nandi statue is situated in Kashi Vishwanath Temple and faces the Gyanvyapi mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The text reads, “Nandi always has his face towards the shivalingam but nandi of kashi vishwanath faces the Gyanvapi mosque, which was originally Viswanath Temple. Nandi Gazes at the door, waiting for his master to appear. We Need to Reclaim Our Temples.”

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search we found the same image was uploaded on a website, Age of Stock, with a caption that reads, “Stock Photo – Nandi Bull statue in Kashi Vishweshwar temple at Wai, Satara, Maharashtra, India, Asia”
The same image was also uploaded by Alamy with the caption, “Nandi Bull statue in Kashi Vishweshwar temple at Wai Satara Maharashtra India Asia.”
Hence, we can ascertain that the picture in question is not from Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and the claim attached to it is misleading.
