Fact Check: Old Image of Actor Yash’s Visit to Tirupati Goes Viral with False Claim

Date:

An image of Kannada actor Yash (also known as Naveen Kumar Gowda) goes viral on social media with a claim that he recently visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and announced a donation of ₹50 crore for its construction.

Facebook users are sharing the image with a caption: “साउथ के सुपरस्टार अभिनेता यश कुमार आज श्रीराम जी के दर्शन करने अयोध्या जी पहुंचे और राम मंदिर के निर्माण में 50 करोड़ रूपये समर्पण करने की घोषणा की।
आप सनातन के गौरव हो…भगवान श्रीराम आपको शक्ति दें। #जय_श्री_राम” (English translation: South superstar actor Yash Kumar arrived at Ayodhya today to visit Shri Ram ji and announced a donation of ₹50 crore for the construction of Ram temple. You are the pride of Sanatan… May Lord Shriram give you strength. #जय_श्री_राम)

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Running the image through a Reverse Image Search, we found the same image in a report by India Today, dated April 12, 2022. The headline of the report reads: “Before KGF Chapter 2 release, Yash visits Tirupati and Simhachalam temples to offer prayers. See pics.”

An article by The Indian Express also carried similar pictures from the actor’s visit to Lord Balaji at Tirumala Venkateswara temple.

This proves that the image is from April when he visited Tirumala Venkateswara temple in Andhra Pradesh.

We also could not find any media report regarding ₹50-crore donation by the actor for the Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya. There was no such announcement even on his verified social media accounts.

Hence, it is clear that an old picture of Yash is being circulated with a false claim.
