After months of anticipation, Ponniyin Selvan I is finally released in theatres on Friday. The film has since received an incredible amount of love and support from its audience, an evident reflection of the hype created ahead of release.

It is Mani Ratnam’s version of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel brought to life on the big screen in the period drama Ponniyin Selvan, which is produced by Mani Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners.
