T20 World Cup: Virat Kohli Shines As India Beat Bangladesh By Five-Runs

Date:

Adelaide: India made a crucial comeback as they defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

India took charge in the first innings with opener KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul, who was struggling with his form, played a crucial knock of 50 runs in 32 deliveries. Skipper Rohit Sharma failed to score big after getting dismissed by Hassan Mahmud.

Indian star batsman Virat Kohli continues his top form by playing an unbeaten knock of 64 runs and leading the innings.

Kohli further shattered the record and became the leading run-scorer in ICC T20 World Cup, surpassing Mahela Jayawardene.

Suryakumar Yadav managed to play a balanced knock and build a partnership with Kohli. However, India kept losing wickets in the middle order as Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik failed to spend time in the middle and add runs to the total.

India after the end of the first innings managed to set a total of 184 runs on board. Bangladesh made a power-packed start with Litton Das taking charge of the Indian bowling attack.

He managed to steer the innings but was dismissed after a spectacular runout by KL Rahul. He scored 62 runs in just 27 deliveries. The match was stopped in the middle due to rain after which the game was shortened to 16 overs and the target was set at 151 runs.

The Bangladesh batting side trembled as the Indian bowling attack went through them after the game resumed post-rain.

Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya secured two wickets each while Shami managed to get one wicket during his spell.
