COVID: Centre Makes RT-PCR Tests Mandatory For Flyers From Five Countries Including China

Date:

New Delhi: Amid the growing concern over the surging number of COVID-related cases globally, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare mandated RT-PCR testing to be conducted pre-departure (within 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey) for passengers on all international flights from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan.

The revised guideline is issued by the Health Ministry in the wake of the growth trajectory of cases in these regions.

The advisory added that “ This will also apply to transiting passengers through the countries irrespective of their originating countries before coming to any Indian Airport.”

It further highlighted that the Air Suvidha Portal has to be made operational for passengers on all international flights from these countries, with a provision to allow international travelers arriving in India to submit negative RT-PCR test reports as well as to submit self-declaration forms on this portal.

The statement also clarified that the existing rate of random testing of 2% travellers at the airports will continue to remain in practice.
