Delhi Pollution: Temporary Ban On BS-III Petrol And BS-IV Diesel Vehicles From Today

New Delhi: Amid the worsening condition of air quality, the Delhi Government has decided to impose a temporary ban on plying of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers in the national capital from Tuesday.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directed all the NCR states to impose vigorous pollution control measures in the area, GRAP Stage III has been implemented owing to the ‘severe’ Air Quality Index measure.

The statement  issued by the Delhi Government added that “ As per directions as provided under Stage- III of the revised GRAP and under Section 115 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, it is hereby ordered that there shall be restrictions to ply BS-Ill, Petrol and BS-IV, Diesel LMVs (4 Wheelers) in NCT of Delhi NCT.” The temporary will be in effect till 12th January 2023.

The statement further added that if any four-wheeler in the category of BS-III, Petrol and BS-IV, Diesel will be found plying on roads will be fined upto ₹20,000.

The Air Quality Index recorded 434 on Monday, worsening from 371 recorded on Sunday.
