Fact Check: Video of Special Spherical Fireworks Display at Mount Fuji in Japan? Here’s the Truth

Date:

A video of fireworks is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that special spherical fireworks were displayed at Mount Fuji in Japan.

The caption reads: These are beautiful fireworks! Called spherical fireworks. Very expensive and very well-engineered, designed fireworks. How did they get these effects of hearts and variations of planets in a solar system? Sixty-four seconds of fireworks in Japan at Mount Fuji. This show is said to be the first of its kind in the world (spherical pyrotechnics). Worth watching. Likely the world’s best fireworks display you will ever see.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be fake.

Putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we identified the same video on YouTube posted on January 3, 2018.

The same video had been uploaded on YouTube, dated January 4, 2013, with a title: New Year 2013 Synchronised epic music (Heart of Courage) FWSim Fireworks Display – HD

As per the description, the video was created using a software called FWSim. It reads: “…I wanted to continue the party by sharing this fireworks display I created & actualized. It took me a little over a week to complete, and I am very happy with the outcome. All of the shells are custom-made by me, and I take huge pride in the handiwork that went into bringing them to life. I hope you all enjoy the show. The music choice used for this display is Thomas Bergersen’s (Two Steps from Hell) “Heart of Courage.” Truly a great musical arrangement. The great software used to mastermind a production like this is FWSim.”

We found that the description on the website FWsim reads: “These virtual fireworks displays were created with FWsim, the fireworks simulation software. You can use our software to design your own fireworks shows, with your favourite music.”

Moreover, NewsMobile debunked the same video in 2019, when it was shared as fireworks in Mumbai’s Borivali West.

https://newsmobile.in/articles/2019/10/30/this-video-of-fireworks-is-not-from-mumbai-heres-the-truth/

Hence, it is clear that the video is created using the software, and not real.
