Back-To-Back Explosions Near Golden Temple, Probe Underway

Amritsar. A blast was reported on Monday morning at around 6:30 a.m. on Heritage Street near Golden Temple, which left a person injured.

The incident took place near the same place where another bomb went off on Saturday.

The incident came to light after the locals in the area heard a loud noise on Monday at around 6:30 a.m. While the small-scale blast on Monday injured only one person, the blast on Saturday left six injured due to shattered fragments of window glass caused by the force of the explosion.

Security in the area has been stepped up; senior police officers, the forensic team, and the bomb squad have reached the spot where the explosion took place and have started collecting samples for the investigation.

Amritsar ADCP Mehtab Singh, while speaking to the news agency ANI, said, “We are verifying. The situation is normal here. Anti-sabotage, bomb squad, and FSL teams are here. One person has received a minor injury in the leg.”

The officials further stated that they have not recovered any detonators and that the reason behind the explosion and the identity of the person behind the blast have yet to be disclosed.

The explosion caused great distress and fear among the residents of Heritage Street, after which the locals in the area called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Reacting to this, the official Twitter account for the Commissioner of Police in Amritsar tweeted, “A news story related to blasts in Amritsar is going viral on social media; the situation is under control.

The investigation is on to establish the facts of the incident, and there is no need to panic.
Urge citizens to maintain peace and harmony; advise all to fact-check before sharing.”
