EC Asks Congress Prez To Clarify Sonia Gandhi’s ‘Sovereignty’ Remark

Date:

Bengaluru: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to clarify the ‘sovereignty’ remark of Sonia Gandhi following a complaint by BJP.

ECI in a statement said “The Election Commission of India today issued a letter to INC President to provide clarification and take rectification measures in respect of the social media post which has been put up on the Official INC Twitter handle and attributed to Chairperson CPP,”.

Earlier, a tweet on the Twitter handle of Congress quoting Sonia Gandhi added “The Congress will not allow anyone to pose a threat to Karnataka’s reputation, sovereignty or integrity,”.

The tweet drew a major attack from the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. BJP further demanded strict action against the leader over the comment.
