New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised opposition parties in a public gathering on Saturday in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. In voicing his criticism towards opposition parties, PM Modi questioned the reliability of their claimed unity.
Modi highlighted the contradicting statements made by various opposition leaders in the past, which were widely shared on social media, indicating a lack of assurance in their unity.
“Their (opposition parties) guarantee means something is wrong. The opposition parties are now claiming to be united. Social media is filled with their past statements. They have openly criticised each other, which means opposition unity has no guarantee,” said PM Modi.
Adding further, PM Modi alleged that the opposition parties have only worked in the interests of their families. “Such dynastic parties have only worked in the interest of their families. Those accused of corruption are out on bail. Those serving sentences for scams are sharing the stage and holding meetings with anti-national elements,” said PM Modi.
Cautioning the public, PM Modi said, “You have to be careful of those giving false guarantees. Those who don’t have their own guarantees are coming up with new schemes. The guarantees of parties like Congress are nothing but evil intentions against the poor.”
PM Modi’s remarks came after the opposition’s unanimous decision to join forces and contest the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election together after the opposition meeting in Patna on Friday. The opposition’s next meeting is set to be held on July 13–14 in Bengaluru.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol, which aims to eliminate anaemia by 2047.
