New Delhi: India celebrates 76 years of Independence this time with full enthusiasm, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Tuesday, a lot of important security arrangements are underway.
The national capital is on full swing, prepping for the big celebration. The ramparts of the Red Fort is all decked up with lights, whereas the Gyan Path in front of the fort is all decked up with beautiful flowers and signage of G20.
As per the officials quoted in media reports, over 10,000 security personnel will be deployed for the celebration at the Red Fort. Further ensuring high-level monitoring and security, at least 1000 cameras with facial recognition will be installed around the fort and other important areas.
At the same time, the list of invitees who will be attending the event includes, over 70 couples from every state. They will be attending the event in their traditional attire. The list also includes Sarpanches of vibrant villages, frontline healthcare workers like nurses and fishermen. Lastly, the team of labourers who have constructed the Central Vista are among the special invitees.
On the other hand, officials have also informed that areas surrounding the fort have been demarcated as ‘no kite flying zone’. At the same time, air drone systems and air defence guns will be installed. Snipers, SWAT commandos and sharpshooters will also be positioned.
According to a senior police officer quoted in a media report, over 20,00 officials and civilians will be attending this year’s Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort.
The police have also increased patrolling and have set up proper checkpoints at different markets and attraction points in the national capital.
