A video of Earth shot from space is doing rounds on social media with a claim that the video was taken by Chandrayaan-3.
The post read, “Amazing view #Chandrayaan3”
Here’s the link to the above post.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
After watching the video carefully, we found that the video was credited to the University of Iowa and Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit. The credit read, “Som ET-Credit: University of Iowa, Image courtesy of the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, NASA Johnson Space Center (ISS067-E-357091-357756)”
Taking a cue from this, we ran a search and found the same video on YouTube and Instagram of Som ET.
On searching further, we found the same clip on the official website of the European Space Agency. As per the post dated October 13, 2022, the timelapse was video made during ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti’s second mission to the International Space Station, ‘Minerva’.
We found that Samantha shared this video on social media with the caption: “One last time, fly along with me! Farewell and, as always, thanks for all the fish!”
Thus, it is clear that the video is not related to Chandrayaan-3 and the post is misleading.
