Google’s Gemini AI Software Set to Challenge ChatGPT

Date:

New Delhi: Google has granted a select group of companies early access to Gemini, its conversational AI software, in a bid to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, according to reports. This move holds significant importance for Google, which has been increasing its investments in generative AI to catch up after OpenAI’s ChatGPT made waves in the tech world last year.

Gemini encompasses a range of large-language models that power various applications, including chatbots, text summarization, content generation (such as email drafts, music lyrics, and news stories), and even assisting software engineers in coding and generating images based on user requests.

While Google is currently providing developers access to a sizable version of Gemini, it is still developing a larger version more on par with GPT-4. The company intends to offer Gemini to businesses through its Google Cloud Vertex AI service.

In the previous month, Google introduced generative AI into its Search tool for users in India and Japan, allowing it to provide text or visual results in response to queries, including summaries. Additionally, the company made its AI-powered tools available to enterprise customers at a monthly cost of $30 per user.
