New Delhi: Nine US citizens have died in the conflict in Israel, a US National Security Council spokesperson said on Monday.
“At this time, we can confirm the death of nine U.S. citizens. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected, and wish those injured a speedy recovery. We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in touch with our Israeli partners, particularly the local authorities,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
The death toll in Israel has risen to at least 1,100, with over 2,000 reported injuries, as Hamas militants fired rockets into Israel from Gaza. Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in hundreds of additional casualties, according to Palestinian officials.
Over 700 people have been killed in Israel, marking a significant toll compared to recent conflicts. Gaza, home to 2.3 million Palestinians neighboring Israel and Egypt, has witnessed nearly 500 deaths.
