New Delhi: Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Uri Sector of Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.
Military forces were placed in a heightened state of readiness. Additionally, measures were taken to bolster the counter-infiltration infrastructure in response to intelligence provided by both Intelligence agencies and the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding the infiltration of heavily armed terrorists from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri Sector, as outlined in the official statement released by the Army.
At around 3 pm, the group was intercepted by alert troops resulting in a heavy exchange of fire. Intense fire-fight continued till last light resulting in the elimination of two terrorists. The area was kept under surveillance throughout the night, it added.
A thorough search of the incident site was conducted leading to the identification of tell-tale signs and recovery of heavy war-like stores including two AK series rifles, six pistols, four Chinese grenades, blankets and two blood-stained bags containing Pakistani and Indian currency notes, Pakistani medicines and eatables, stated the release.
