Sachin Tendulkar’s Statue Unveiled At Wankhede Stadium

Mumbai: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar unveiled his statue at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in a grand ceremony attended by notable political figures and high-ranking officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

A life-size statue of the Master Blaster has been placed at the Sachin Tendulkar stand in the stadium, created by the renowned painter-sculptor Pramod Kamble from Ahmednagar.

Sachin Tendulkar was joined by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, and Board Vice President Rajeev Shukla at the event.

The MCA is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Master Blaster, and the statue at Wankhede is a component of these celebrations.

The cricket legend’s journey began at this stadium under the guidance of childhood coach Ramakant Achrekar, and it was at the Wankhede where he secured the ODI World Cup victory with India in 2011.

Sachin Tendulkar bid farewell to his cricket career on the same field, concluding his illustrious career with his 200th Test against the West Indies in 2013.

“Life has come full circle for me at Wankhede, which has been witness to some very special moments. When the Mumbai Cricket Association suggested that my statue be erected at Wankhede, I was pleasantly surprised,” Tendulkar said.

Meanwhile, the MCA has chosen to offer complimentary popcorn and beverages to all spectators attending the remaining World Cup matches at the stadium. This resolution followed the South Africa versus Bangladesh match on Tuesday.
